Staff

Wayland Creative Preschool teachers are highly qualified, experienced educators who are exceptional in their love of children and dedication to each child’s growth. We maintain a very low teacher to child ratio of 1 teacher to 4 or 5 children in the younger groups, and 1 teacher to 7 or 8 children in the older groups.

All staff members are trained in CPR and First Aid and meet or exceed all training guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. The vast majority of our teachers hold bachelor or graduate degrees, more than half in child development or early childhood education.

In addition to our regular full time staff, the program is augmented by the addition of specialists to provide enrichment in music, creative movement and sports and games.

Director – Susanne Geiger

Susanne joined Wayland Creative Preschool in 2006, after running a successful toddler program for four years. Susanne taught in the classroom and co-directed with Sharon Engler (co-founder and Director of WCPS for 26 years) for two years before taking the helm and becoming the full-time Director of the program.

She is Infant/Toddler Teacher Certified, Preschool Teacher Certified, and Director II Certified by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education.

Susanne can often be found in the classroom, either teaching music, helping with an art project, or simply playing with the children. She knows every child by name and has a close relationship with the families at Wayland Creative. By creating a professional, caring, and stimulating work environment, Susanne is able to attract and retain high quality educators who truly love to teach young children.

A Wayland resident for 24 years, Susanne now lives in Lincoln with her husband and two children, both of whom attended Wayland Public Schools, as did her husband, who is a Wayland native.
